Summer may be winding down, but things are just heating up at RARE! Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we're continuing our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need—and September is packed with awesome ways to get involved.

We’re excited to launch our new Walking With RARE monthly events! While the weather is nice, we’ll gather for fun, themed, trainer-led walks. It’s a great way to get outside, meet fellow dog lovers, and enjoy some time with your pup while supporting RARE!

Puppy Yoga at Santosha Yoga

Saturday, September 12 | 11am

Get ready to stretch, smile, and snuggle! We’re teaming up with Santosha Yoga for a fun-filled Puppy Yoga experience featuring adorable RARE puppies.

Bring a friend, your yoga mat, and your love for puppies—and leave with a full heart and maybe a little puppy hair!

Wedgewood Houston Farmers Market

Wednesday, September 16 | 4pm

Come meet some of RARE’s adorable adoptable pups at the Wedgewood Houston Farmers Market! We’ll be there connecting with the community, sharing more about RARE, and giving you the chance to meet some dogs looking for their forever homes.

Pups & Pub Crawl at Fat Bottom Brewing

Saturday, September 27 | 10am

Grab your pup and join us for our first themed Walking with RARE event! You don’t have to be a RARE alum to join—all dogs and their humans are welcome! Enjoy a fun, trainer-led walk with fellow dog lovers, then stick around for a hang in the beer garden!

$20 donation per participant — all proceeds benefit RARE Rescue and help us save more animals!

Hawkins Needs a Place to Heal

Hawkins needs a foster home! After his CCL surgery, this sweet boy needs a safe, comfortable place where he can recover and get the love and rest he deserves.

Fostering Hawkins is a chance to make a huge difference during an important part of his recovery. RARE Rescue will provide the support and resources he needs—you provide a quiet space, some TLC, and a cozy place to heal.

Adoption Update

From the Side of the Road to a Forever Home: Trooper & Ember’s Story

Some of our most meaningful rescues happen when we least expect them, and Trooper and Ember are the perfect example.

While driving after letting a friend’s dog out, our foster coordinator spotted a tiny kitten dart into the road. Pulling over to make sure the kitten was safe led to something much bigger. Behind an abandoned building, two kittens were hiding: Trooper and Ember...

Event Highlights

We wrapped up August with some incredible community events, and we're so grateful for everyone who came out to support RARE!

Tomato Fest with Furever Friends

A huge thank you to Furever Friends for launching their "Round Up for RARE" campaign during Tomato Fest! Thanks to the generosity of their customers, they raised more than $700 to support the dogs in our care.

It's amazing to see how one local business can make such a meaningful impact by spreading awareness of our mission and encouraging others to give back. Partnerships like these truly help us save more lives.

Painted Paw at Monday Night Brewery

Painted Paw at Monday Night Brewery brought together two things we all love—art and our pets! Guests gathered for a fun afternoon of painting while celebrating their furry friends and supporting RARE.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, showcase our adoptable pups, and raise awareness for our mission. A huge thank you to The Painted Paw and Monday Night Brewery for helping us create such a fun and memorable event!

M.L. Rose Giveback Night

Our M.L. Rose GiveBack Night was such a fun evening for RARE! We brought along some of our adoptable dogs, and our amazing RARE alumni came out to show their support—we loved seeing so many familiar faces and happy tails!

Thanks to everyone who came out, enjoyed a meal, and helped raise money for RARE. And a huge shoutout to our incredible volunteers, who made the night possible. We couldn’t do these events without you!
