This summer, RARE is proud to announce our participation in Foster50 — a nationwide campaign serving as a catalyst for change, rallying pet lovers, shelters, and rescue organizations to spark a fostering movement and help change the future for shelter pets.
Foster50 was designed by a coalition of animal welfare experts, led by PEDIGREE Foundation and including Maddie’s Fund, Adopt a Pet, MuttNation Foundation, ASPCA, Mutual Rescue, The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement and Outcomes for Pets.
These organizations are working together to support animal shelters and foster-based rescues in creating and strengthening their foster programs. In addition, they are addressing foster barriers within the shelter system and providing strategies to make it easier for potential pet parents to foster.
Fostering is a life-saving shelter intervention for dogs and cats alike, preparing them for adoption and helping our shelters by reducing the length of stay for our animals and providing much-needed data, and even marketing, for each individual pet to help us match to permanent homes.
