Buddy's Home for Christmas Story

After 859 long days of waiting, Buddy (formerly Balzey) finally found the forever home he always deserved. Buddy’s journey with RARE began far from Tennessee, wandering alone across the plains of Texas. When we found him, his eyes said everything—“don’t leave me here.” And we couldn't. We brought Buddy back home to Tennessee, knowing he was meant for something more. Still, the days turned into months, and the months turned into years. While other dogs were fostered, adopted, and celebrated, Buddy waited patiently, trusting us and the process, even when the wait felt endless.

Then this month, everything changed. One of our reels popped up on Facebook and found its way to the Conner family. They discovered RARE, submitted an application, and knew Buddy was the perfect fit for their loving home. When adoption day finally arrived, Buddy was welcomed like family from the very beginning—presents wrapped just for him under the tree, a stocking with his name on it, and even a custom menu ready for his welcome weekend. After 859 days of waiting, Buddy’s happy ending reminded us all that there is always hope and the wait is indeed worth it.
