Meet Nico 🖤🐾

Nico is the kind of dog who makes being a good boy look effortless. This handsome black Lab mix has the most gorgeous golden eyes, a sweet personality, and some seriously impressive manners! Amazing with dogs, kids and cats!!

Nico originally came to RARE after he was abandoned at a home when his previous owners moved away, leaving him behind with two other dogs, Hollis and Dove. Their names were unknown, so RARE gave them new ones. You'd never know these three had been through a difficult experience based on how happy, friendly, and loving they are. ❤️

And Nico has continued to show just how wonderful he is in foster!

His foster says he has developed amazing manners, including patiently waiting for his meals and calmly waiting while even the family's 3-year-old brings him his food bowl. He can also hang out while his people eat without begging; he simply waits patiently for his turn to earn a treat. 🥹

Nico is:

  • 🥰 Sweet and affectionate
  • 👧👦 Wonderful around kids
  • 🐶 Great with other dogs
  • 🍽️ Incredibly patient and polite around food
  • 🚗 A car ride enthusiast! He went from being unsure about getting in to absolutely loving rides
  • ⚽ Happy to tag along to his foster family's adventures
  • 👋 A social guy who loves making little friends wherever he goes
  • 🐾 A wonderful companion who just wants to be included

Nico has gone from being left behind to becoming the dog who gets to tag along to the kids' practices, make new friends, and experience all the little moments that make up family life. And honestly, that's exactly what he deserves.

✨ Nico is proof that a rough beginning doesn't have to define a dog's story. He's ready for a forever family who will appreciate his gentle heart, beautiful manners, and his desire to be right in the middle of family life. ❤️

Steps To Adopt

Read the adoptable’s bio above, including their adoption fee Go to RARErescue.org and read our ADOPTION PROCESS page under the "Adopt" section Complete the DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM (located on our website RARErescue.org) We understand that it is important to you to find the right fit for your family. We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason. All of our Adoptables are:Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoptionBREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption. Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
