Meet Crowley!
If you're looking for a sweet and gentle companion who loves to be goofy, play fetch and also chill and just hang out, Crowley is your guy! Fill out an adoption application at rarerescue.org today!
Crowley is truly the best dog. So, he doesn't really like other dogs in his face and likes to be the center of attention...he never has accidents, doesn't chew on anything but his toys, and lays on his bed or on the couch with you if you want to cuddle. He's gentle, laid back and a gem of a dog.
Crowley came to us when his elderly owner was unable to care herself anymore and Crowley by extension. He had wound up being boarded at a vet and his time had run out. The family said they're only option was to euthanize him because all the shelters in their area were full. Thanks to our amazing RARE community, we were able to find him a foster and he's ready for his true forever home.
His fosters say he's a gentle giant and thinks he's a lap dog. He was overweight when he first came to us, weighing over 100 lbs, but now he is at a healthier weight of 78 lbs and looks amazing! He has the sweetest spirit and is just so happy to be involved in things. Plus, he looks very dashing in a bowtie! He loves balls, sticks and toys and playing them in the backyard. While he does love to run around outside, inside he's chill and does great in a crate overnight or in a dog bed. He'd probably sleep in your bed if you'd let him. He also likes to get out and about with his fosters for walks and hang out at restaurants and patios. He's house trained and crate trained. He loves every human he's met, including children!
He may do well in a home with a submissive female dog, but he would do best as the only dog since his previous person did not socialize him with other dogs growning up. He's 8 years young and has lots of life to live. Even bigger dogs can have a life span of 14-16 years or more, so please don't let his age prevent you from giving Crowley the home he deserves for many more years to come.

We understand that it is important to you to find the right fit for your family. We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason.
All of our Adoptables are:
Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption
BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.
Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.
***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
