Meet Josie Sue ☀️
Josie Sue is the kind of dog who has been through it and yet, she still chooses love every single day.
Estimated to be between 8–10 years old, this beautiful mixed breed girl has a story of resilience that’s impossible to ignore. She came from a large-scale hoarding situation where resources were limited and the dogs were left to fend for themselves. Many of them, including the now-safe “Vampire Diaries” litter, were living on the same property and became critically ill, requiring emergency treatment for parvo.
Josie Sue was the personal dog of the owner, living in the middle of that chaos. When she was rescued, there were concerns she might have mange, but it turned out she needed surgery. Thankfully, her owner was willing to surrender her, giving Josie Sue the chance she so deeply deserved.
And through it all… Josie Sue never lost her love for people.
Josie Sue is:
• Extremely affectionate and people-loving
• A total cuddle bug who thrives on human connection
• Calm, gentle, and happy just being near her person
She greets people with her signature “smile” and has a way of making you feel instantly loved. After everything she’s been through, her ability to trust and bond is truly something special.
Because of her past, Josie Sue can be selective with other dogs; she spent a long time having to navigate a stressful, survival-based environment. However, she can do well with calm, low-energy dogs who respect her space.
Her ideal home would be:
• Someone who wants a deeply devoted, affectionate companion
• A lower-key environment with lots of human interaction
• A home that understands her past and will give her the peace she deserves

The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care.
