Meet Gelato, aka Otto!
Gelato—lovingly known as Otto—is a 6-year-old Corgi mix who recently found himself facing a huge life change.
After his owner unexpectedly passed away, her best friend reached out to RARE to make sure Otto would be safe and cared for. He lost the person and home he knew, and now we're hoping to find this sweet boy a family who can give him the security and love he deserves.
-
6-year-old Corgi mix
-
Incredibly sweet and affectionate
-
Loves being close to his people
-
Past the puppy stage and ready to settle into his next chapter
-
Can be uncomfortable around some larger-statured men and appreciates people who will respect his space and let him warm up at his own pace
Otto really is such a loving little guy. Understandably, he's had a lot of change to process, but he has so much affection to give. With people he feels comfortable with, his sweet personality shines through.
He may need a little patience in certain situations, particularly when meeting some larger men, and we'd love to find him a family who won't rush him and will help him continue building positive associations and confidence.
At 6 years old, Otto never expected to be searching for another home. His person may be gone, but he still has so much love left to give—and we're determined to make sure his next chapter is a really good one.
If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate companion to welcome into your family, Otto would love to meet you.
Steps To Adopt
Read the adoptable’s bio above, including their adoption fee Go to RARErescue.org and read our ADOPTION PROCESS page under the "Adopt" section Complete the DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM (located on our website RARErescue.org) We understand that it is important to you to find the right fit for your family. We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason. All of our Adoptables are:Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoptionBREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption. Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
