Gravy is a gentle, soulful boy who arrived at a rural pound severely underweight, but he’s been steadily gaining weight every passing week. Gravy is believed to be a young adult around 1 1/2 - 2 years old with so much love to give. He's great with cats (respectful and does not chase them) and he loves other dogs!

Despite being emaciated and scared when we rescued him, Gravy has always shown that he has an incredibly sweet and tender nature. He can be a little shy at first, but warms up within a few hours; ready to cuddle in your lap if you let him within a few days. Other dogs really bring out his confidence. With with just a few minutes of patience, gentle cuddles, and kind words, his nubber (cropped tail) begins to wag and his soft personality starts to shine through.

Gravy seems to have some sensitivity around leashes, which may be connected to past experiences. He just sits and doesn't feel safe to move at first. Because of this, he will thrive in a patient home that can continue to help him slowly build confidence and trust being on a leash. He's made so much progress already in his foster home! Our team will happily guide you through this process so Gravy can continue to feel confident on a lead.

A home with a fenced yard would be ideal for Gravy while he gains confidence and continues learning that the world can be a good place.

All of our Adoptables are:

Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption

BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.

PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.

Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care.  As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.

***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
